About the Software Engineer (SWE) role
- The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements
- Works individually or as part of a team
- Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results
- Resolves software problem reports
- Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment
- Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
What you'll do
The Software Engineer (SWE) Subject Matter Expert (SME) shall possess the following capabilities:
- Provide the bridge between Program end users of the software/application to be delivered and those who are architecting engineering and/or developing the software/application
- Support the development, review, and analysis of Program CONOPs, requirements, scenarios and use cases that accurately reflect end users' needs
- Assist in the development, organization, and articulation of Program expectation to support test planning and operational evaluation activities
- Support information management transformation is preserved across programmatic and acquisition activities
- Articulate/white board ideas to all levels of management
- Provide lifecycle sustainment support
- Be cognizant of all operational requirements, ensuring that the spirit of the requirements is preserved across programmatic and acquisition activities
- Apply comprehensive application knowledge for guidance to the functional team
- Lead requirements analysis and develop implementation strategy
What you'll bring
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in a Computer Science related field with eight (8) years experience in the following software/application development, design, architecture, or sustainment
- A Bachelor's Degree with ten (10) years experience
- an Associate's Degree with twelve (12) years experience may be substituted for the Master's Degree
- No degree with fifteen (15) years experience in field in acceptable
