You do not need a clearance to start. This role is open to candidates who are eligible to obtain TS/SCI with a full scope polygraph.
About the Cable Technician role
- Provides the provisioning, installation, design, termination, testing, documentation, operations, and maintenance of all types of IT cabling
- This service includes both fiber optic cable and copper cable from single-strand/pair to large bulk cables that are used in the infrastructure backbone, underground, outdoor, and horizontal cabling to the desktop or equipment racks
- This labor category is to be priced for both cleared and uncleared personnel
What you'll do
The Level 2 Cable Technician shall possess the following capabilities:
- Develop the cable run lists for a major projects and efforts to ensure communications can be established to meet customer goals
- Consult with the Government to ensure deliveries are met
- Design of cable transmission media, machine rooms, transport closets ,and points-of-presence
- Lead cable crews in all environments
- Properly test and troubleshoot optical fiber installations
- Qualifications: Shall have a minimum of ten (10) years technical experience in IT cable installation and termination
- Provide team leadership, engineering, and design knowledge to meet technical specifications
- In-Depth knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies, and splicing techniques
- Areas of knowledge must also include: physical ability to lift 50 pounds, cable termination, testing, cable rack preparation, layout and installation, and documentation
- A valid BICSI Technician certification is required
- Five additional years of experience may be substituted for certification
