About the Cable Engineer (CE) role
- Provides Cable Engineering expertise to analyze complex cable systems, cable design, architecture, network design, and other technical cable issues
- Procures and performs acceptance testing on equipment
- Provides cable maintenance support, both preventative and remedial
- Deploys, installs, and implements cable in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS)
- Prepares specifications for cable by analyzing documented and derived system requirements
- Conducts site surveys
- Prepares engineering plans and site Technical Design Packages
- Prepares site installations and test reports
- Ensures that problems have been properly identified and solutions will satisfy the user's requirements
- Prepares reports and recommendations concerning existing and emerging cable technologies
- Provides specific input to the cable components of system design to include end-user devices, servers, networking devices, data storage devices, and specialized processors
What you'll do
The Level 2 Cable Engineer (CE) shall possess the following capabilities:
- Organize and direct cable installations across multiple sites
- Analyze and recommend cable specifications for project-unique or modified commercial cable
- Assist with building simulations of proposed systems and provide cable throughput analyses to system engineers
- Design and verify test harnesses/simulated interfaces for all test and integration phases
- Analyze operational data to identify choke points, failure modes, and other data for design or maintainability improvements
What you'll bring
Qualifications:
- Fourteen (14) years of experience as an HE analyzing complex cable systems for IT solutions is required
- Bachelor's degree in Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
- Five (5) years of additional Cable Engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree
